Atom Willard Confirms His Departure from AVA

5 Oct

Atom posted a Twitter link to his Facebook where he explains:

"Hey everyone, sorry you had to hear about this news from an outside source, this is the official statement that was meant to go out. Thank you all for your support with this."

The official statement:

Angels and Airwaves (AVA) have announced that they have parted ways with their original drummer Atom Willard. Willard, a founding member of AVA, joined the band in 2005 along with Dave Kennedy under the leadership of Tom Delonge. Willard states "It's been a great six years and I feel privileged to have worked with these musicians I call my friends. While I will miss them, it is an amicable split and I look forward to this next chapter in my life. I truly wish the guys much success in the future."

Angels and Airwaves are based in San Diego while Willard lives in Los Angeles. AVA's fourth full length album "Love II" is due out 11/11/11 and will feature drum tracks by Willard.

Update:

A statement has now been made on Modlife, although it still doesn't particularly explain why Atom has left the band.
